The only recycling facility of its kind in Canada, Canadian Liquids Processors Limited (CLP), a division of Emterra Group, provides confidential and secure liquid recycling and product destruction services for un-saleable consumable liquids and other products. Waste liquids are converted into ethanol while all packaging is recycled.

Our product destruction and liquids processing services ensure packaging is recycled and liquid contents are safely managed. Our services are performed in a confidential and secure environment for our customers, which include US and Canadian manufacturers, distributors, retailers, law enforcement and insurance adjusters. 

As the General Manager of CLP you will report directly to the CEO and lead a team of 40 people including the Operations Manager, front line workers, mechanics, sales, logistics and administrative employees.

What will you do?  
  • Ensure the efficient and safe operation of the plant by establishing and monitoring key performance indicators and managing the staff directly responsible for these areas;
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, employees and various internal/external stakeholders to increase business and revenue;
  • Use your distillery skills, lean manufacturing and consumer packaged goods experience to streamline processes and enhance intake and productivity;
  • Assume P&L responsibility including the development and achievement of budgetary goals to ensure the long- term viability of company;
  • Manage production with a results-driven / sense of urgency framework focused on safety, quality and continuous improvement to meet customer demand and company goals;
  • Maintain a high ethical and professional standard to ensure a competent staff of technical personnel;
  • Effectively communicate company objectives, goals, business plans, and philosophies to employees at all levels, from front line to plant management;
  • Manage and guide a new and diverse team with varying skill sets, backgrounds, and capabilities;
  • Lead and implement positive cultural changes effectively and with urgency;
  • Recruit, select, coach and mentor staff to ensure performance targets are being met;
  • Ensure site compliance with all employment, safety and environmental regulations; and
  • Other tasks as assigned.
 
 What will you bring?
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field;
  • Minimum of 10-15 years senior management experience, preferably in a product destruction, beverage and/or brewery manufacturing environment;
  • Experience in a packaged goods manufacturing, distillery, brewery, bottling and/or destruction environment;
  • Experience in lean manufacturing with a proven track record for reducing waste without sacrificing quality or productivity;
  • Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement and efficiency;
  • Strong financial, mathematical and analytical skills;
  • Need to say something about sales skills
  • Strong business acumen with an entrepreneurial mindset and good judgement;
  • Excellent interpersonal, team-building and oral/written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and with clients and external stakeholders;
  • Manage and guide a new and diverse team with varying skill sets, backgrounds, and capabilities;
  • Strong understanding of provincial employment, health and safety, and environmental legislation;
  • Must be a hands-on self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, shift priorities, and work within time constraints on an on-going basis;
  • A strong work ethic with a continuous improvement attitude; and
  • Proven record as a leader capable of implementing positive cultural changes.
